Tomorrow, barring unforeseen circumstances, we’ll have a dog again. I didn’t think it was going to happen. We were approved last Wednesday by the breed rescue. Then we had to contact the foster home directly. They had someone already coming to see her on Sunday. There was much sadness. We tried to imagine ways that [...]

For reasons that I totally don’t understand, I’ve decided to do Bonnie Hunter’s newest mystery quilt, Carolina Christmas. It is a 82 inch square quilt. I don’t like huge quilts. I don’t like square quilts. I don’t like Christmas quilts. But for some reason I feel drawn to do this. Today I’m going to clean [...]

I had my friend’s baby shower on Saturday and gave her the two quilts. I didn’t know this but her nursery is being done in lilac and butterflies and dragonflies so the quilts will fit in perfectly. I had some disturbing news over the weekend. My sister in law is pregnant. (Officially, I don’t know [...]

The interviewer’s attitude was adjusted by the time she talked to me so we got approved to adopt a dog. We applied to get a springer spaniel. The SO fell in love with a dog named Freckles. I’ve contacted her foster family but I haven’t heard back yet. Happy Thanksgiving!

I was once approved to adopt a child. I am attempting to be approved to adopt a dog. I don’t think I’m going to be approved for the dog. The reason is going to be that I don’t give my pets veterinary care. (Don’t even try to wrap your brain around that because you will [...]

I promised to show the coins that I have that would probably cause the SO to lie down and have a heart attack if he even knew they existed – never mind what he’d do if he found out he was living with them. Drumroll please….. from the Isle of Man……… Harry Potter coins!! I [...]

I last saw Riley on Sunday night. He was running between my feet as I opened the back door. I was coming in and he was going out. He doesn’t care that I don’t want him to go outside. He is compelled. It is getting cold. He doesn’t like to stay out at night now. [...]

Day 2 has a bit less intense than the first day since most of our attunements were done. We had classes on chakras in the morning. Then we started practicing on each other again. You start with doing a grounding and centering. They gave us a visualization to use that was different than the one [...]

For homework last night we were supposed to work on someone else. That could be a person or an animal. We were also warned that we might be bit off. The attunement process may make you feel weird physically or mentally for a while. On the way home I got a call that a neighbor [...]

Today was the first day of my Reiki level one class. I’m taking the normal human level one compressed into 12 hours with 4 additional hours of animal concentration tomorrow afternoon. I’ve played around with energy work before. I’ve done some chakra meditations and worked on moving energy around in rituals. I never knew if [...]

Earlier this year the SO encouraged me to buy a silver American Eagle coin. He has been a coin collector for a long time and buys one of these coins new from the US Mint every year. I figured it was a good idea in case of an apocolypse and I needed precious metals to [...]

I’ve been noticing blogs that list all the books they’ve read in 2009 on the sidebar. I’ve tried to keep track of that before on Facebook but failed miserably. There was just too much. I read to keep my brain entertained. My brain likes to be entertained. When it wants entertainment it wants what it [...]

Z has no tolerance for scary TV shows. When she sees something scary she emits an ear shattering shriek, yells “I’m scared!” lest we were confused as to the meaning of the shriek, and then may run and hide under the dining room table. But then she comes right back and looks at the TV [...]

So far so good on the emergency quilting schedule. I finished the second top and got it all packed off to my friend with the long arm machine. The top for Baby #2 (Who I must learn to stop calling Thing 2):

Guess who’s sound without her sneakers? Prize! Last week I tried to take her sneakers off and she wanted nothing to do with that. She kept pushing me away from the velcro so I left them on her. Then earlier this week one fell off in the pasture and she was sound so the barn [...]

Remember the quilts I’m making for my friend who is having twins? Remember how I made them very simple because I have to have them done in a few months when I go visit her? Remember that great plan? I got a call this afternoon saying that since both she and I would be at [...]

My home internet quit working yesterday. I tried all the tricks that customer service has told me before with no luck. So I called today. I am signed up for automatic payment. Hence my suprise when they say I have a huge pastdue balance. I questioned how that could be. Seems that when they process [...]

There is this trend in the town I work in to get stickers made that say “In Loving Memory of …..” with the birth and death dates. These then go on your back window of your car. Is this a trend anywhere else? I don’t see it in any of the surrounding towns. I’m not [...]
