Happy 2012!  I posted my reading summary for 2011.

The Christmas Cookie Club by Ann Pearlman

Twelve friends get together on the first Monday in December to exchange cookies.  This book tells the stories of each of the women and gives recipes.

I was disappointed in the cookie recipes.  That’s probably because the group has a strict “no chocolate chip cookies” rule and I view cookies as only a vehicle to transport chocolate chips to my mouth.

Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation by Cokie Roberts

This is the story of the women of the Revolutionary War.  I love women’s history.  I posted my favorite story from the book.

The Double Comfort Safari Club by Alexander McCall Smith

This is part of the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series.  I wasn’t into the first book of this series I read years ago but I decided to give it another try so I could cross off Botswana on my Around the World in 80 Books list.  It was cute but I don’t think I’ll rush to read more.

SuperFreakonomics: Global Cooling, Patriotic Prostitutes, and Why Suicide Bombers Should Buy Life Insurance by Steven Levitt and Stephen Dubner

“The New York Times bestselling Freakonomics was a worldwide sensation. Now, Steven D. Levitt and Stephen J. Dubner return with SuperFreakonomics, and fans and newcomers alike will find that the “freakquel” is even bolder, funnier, and more surprising than the first.

SuperFreakonomics challenges the way we think all over again, exploring the hidden side of everything with such questions as: How is a street prostitute like a department store Santa? Who adds more value: a pimp or a Realtor? What do hurricanes, heart attacks, and highway deaths have in common? Did TV cause a rise in crime? Can eating kangaroo meat save the planet?”

I loved the first book and the second was just as interesting.
