Chronicles of St. Mary’s Book 2

Review of Book 1   Just One Damned Thing After Another

Fiction
Audio

The time traveling historians of St. Mary’s are due for some downtime after rescuing scrolls from the burning library at Alexandria. They didn’t count on having to rescue one of their own who has been kidnapped and is being held hostage in the future. In the future St. Mary’s has been decimated by criminals who have killed the senior staff and stolen their time traveling pods. Setting that right needs to be a first priority before going back to the court of Mary Tudor to get history back on the right track.

I’m quite enjoying this series. So much happens in each book that it is hard to summarize plots without giving it all away or just sounding like a blubbering idiot.

I think I actually liked this book better than the first in the series which is quite unusual for me. More time was spent on personal relationships when not on assignments in this book which helped to flesh out the characters.

The narration of the book was very well done. The pace was good with the right amount of snarky tone as needed.  I appreciate a book that requires snark.

Looking forward to listening to the third book in the series.
