Neil Gaiman writes imaginative fantasy novels that often involve either mythology like in American Gods or are deeply embedded in the spirit of a specific place like in Neverwhere. Nnedi Okorafor uses similar themes. Local spirits and mythology often appear in her novels. I’d love to see what they would come up with together.

Horror and psychological thrillers are the mainstays of these authors. If you put the two of them together, you’d probably never sleep again.

I’ve changed my mind. If you are a woman, these two are the masters of horror. They both write about dystopian futures or fantasies where women are generally kept in servitude.

Both of these women write mysteries set in the past. Elizabeth Peters features Amelia Peabody, a Victorian era Egyptologist who seems to invite trouble. Lindsey Davis has series featuring Marcus Didius Falco and his daughter Flavia, informers in ancient Rome.

Both of these authors write fantasy novels that aren’t anchored in western European traditions and motifs. They would be great together.

Atticus is a Druid who uses Earth Magic and generally pisses off Gods and magical creatures. Harry Dresden is a wizard who does the same thing. They totally need to team up but it is entirely likely that they wouldn’t get anything done because they’d be too busy sassing each other.

These are my two favorite urban fantasy series featuring werewolves and shapeshifters. The mythologies are totally different so they would need to come up with a new story to work together but it could be great.

Just the thought of these two traveling together makes me laugh. There would be so many stories to tell.

Both authors write complex spy thrillers. Together they could make a masterpiece.

Now for my dream pairing that can never happen
