This week’s topic is Spring TBR List.

This is sort of hard for me. I don’t keep a TBR list that I’m going to read in any particular order. I don’t keep a list of books that will publish soon that I want to read. So, I’m going to do a variation on the topic.

Books I Added to My TBR List in March – so far

The Dwarves (The Dwarves, #1)The Dwarves by Markus Heitz

Recommended by Boats Against the Current. Translated from German.

“Abandoned as a child, Tungdil the blacksmith is the only dwarf in a kingdom of men. But when he is sent out into the world to deliver a message and reacquaint himself with his people, the young foundling finds himself thrust into a battle for which he has not been trained. Not only his own safety, but the life of every man, woman and child in Girdlegard depends upon his ability to embrace his heritage.”

The Proposal (The Survivors' Club #1)The Proposal by Mary Balogh

Recommended by Joy. I’ve never read this author.

“In Mary Balogh’s engaging and seductive new novel of drama and romance, a woman comfortable in her solitude allows temptation to free her heart, when a daring war hero shows her how truly extraordinary she is.”

Love, Loss, and What We Ate: A MemoirLove, Loss, and What We Ate: A Memoir by Padma Lakshmi

Heard about this one in an NPR story. Great for Foodies Read.

“Long before Padma Lakshmi ever stepped onto a television set, she learned that how we eat is an extension of how we love, how we comfort, how we forge a sense of home—and how we taste the world as we navigate our way through it. Shuttling between continents as a child, she lived a life of dislocation that would become habit as an adult, never quite at home in the world. And yet, through all her travels, her favorite food remained the simple rice she first ate sitting on the cool floor of her grandmother’s kitchen in South India.”

The Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu: And Their Race to Save the World’s Most Precious ManuscriptsThe Bad-Ass Librarians of Timbuktu: And Their Race to Save the World’s Most Precious Manuscripts by Joshua Hammer

Recommended by Becca

“To save precious centuries-old Arabic texts from Al Qaeda, a band of librarians in Timbuktu pulls off a brazen heist worthy of Ocean’s Eleven.”

Summers at Castle AuburnSummers at Castle Auburn by Sharon Shinn

Recommended by Jaime. I like another of this author’s series so I’d like to try this one.

“As a child, Coriel Halsing spent many glorious summers at Castle Auburn with her half-sister-and fell in love with a handsome prince who could never be hers. But now that she is a young woman, she begins to see the dark side of this magical place…”

Lady KillerLady Killer by Joëlle Jones

“Josie Schuller is a picture-perfect homemaker, wife, and mother—but she’s also a ruthless, efficient killer for hire! A brand-new original comedy series that combines the wholesome imagery of early 1960s domestic bliss with a tightening web of murder, paranoia, and cold-blooded survival.”
