Antarctica on a plate: she came she saw she burnt the toast by Alexa Thomson

Alexa Thomson was bored with her job in Australia. She had previously worked as a cook at a camp so she signed up to be a cook for a base in Antarctica. The base served as an international airport for flights coming into the continent. She needed to cook for up to 70 people at a time with no electric or running water. In between flights they explored the continent and visited the very different bases of the Russians and Indians.

I loved this book. I learned a lot of about life in Antarctica that I had never considered before. If you want to learn more about it, I’m going to give away my copy. To have a chance to win the book just leave a comment on this post.

Edited: Contest closed now. The winner is Lindsey!
