Dime Store Magic by Kelley Armstrong-  This is the third book in the women of the Otherworld series. In this one the focus moves from the werewolves to the witches introduced in book 2.  Paige is a young witch who was charged with the care of a teenage witch whose mother was murdered.  The girl is very powerful and Paige’s coven does not want anything to do with her. When old enemies sue for custody on behalf of a father the girl has never known, Paige knows that they will have to fight to defend her.

I wasn’t crazy about this book at the beginning. I didn’t like Paige at all in the last book and didn’t care to read a whole story about her. Over the course of this one though the character matures and gets less obnoxious, so I ended up enjoying this story and looking forward to the next one.

Fool Moon by Jim Butcher-  Audio-  This is book two of the Dresden Files. In this book Harry, a wizard, is trying to capture a werewolf who is killing people in Chicago. But, the more he investigates the more werewolves of different types he finds. Which one is the real killer?

I love the audio presentation of these books. James Marsters does a wonderful job.

The Answer by John Assaraf and Murray Smith- I can’t believe I read this book. I was waiting in line at the library and this was on a display I was looking at. I’m not a big self help reader. This is a business version of The Secret, which I haven’t read. I expected to find hocus pocus mumbo jumbo but some of it made sense. It talks about using affirmations and positive visualizations to increase your success in life. Overall it was thought provoking.

Mr Darcy Broke My Heart by Beth Pattillo- When she takes her sister’s place at a Jane Austin seminar in Oxford, Claire doesn’t expect to be handed a lost copy of the first draft of Pride and Prejudice by a local eccentric. She also doesn’t expect to develop feelings for a fellow seminar attendee, a dark and arrogant man of course, in spite of her boyfriend at home.

This was a quick read that seems like it is going to be a typical chick-lit story but that turns out differently than expected.

Where am I reading additions-  Massachusetts, Chicago, Oxford. I also added The Island of Misfit Books in the eastern Pacific for books like The Answer that don’t have a location.Â
