Friendship Bread
by Darien Gee-  The small town of Avalon IL is taken over by a recipe for bread that requires feeding a starter for 10 days and then passing it on to three friends. As people get involved they get more involved in the community. The novel focuses on two newcomers to town and one woman who has refused to engage with anyone since the death of her son.

Crystal Clear
by Jane Heller-  Crystal is a New York accountant whose personal and professional life is boring. Her assistant convinces her to go on vacation to Sedona. When she unexpectedly bumps into her ex-husband she needs to totally reevaluate her life.

Keep the Change: A Clueless Tipper’s Quest to Become the Guru of the Gratuity
by Steve Dublanica- audio- This is the story of one man’s quest to become the tipping guru after not knowing how to tip a bathroom attendant. He interviewed all kinds of people who work for tips, from waiters to doormen to blackjack dealers to sex workers.
This book made me paranoid. Now I’m worried about not having cash at appropriate times and I remember times that I didn’t tip someone who I know know I should have.

Coming of the Storm: Book One of Contact: The Battle for America
by W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O’Neal Gear-  I love the Gears’ books on pre-Columbian life. This book was tough though. This is the start of the story of the invasion of Florida by de Soto. You know this is going to go bad. I wasn’t familiar with the historical details but de Soto landed in 1539 and headed north destroying everything in his path. This novel is told from the viewpoint of two native resistance leaders.  I read most of this last month but had to put it aside for a while. I have the next book in the series that I’ll start next but I may have to take breaks with it too.

Where am I reading update-  Illinois, Arizona, Nevada (new), Florida
