44 Charles Street by Danielle Steele

“After her boyfriend and business partner leaves her, Manhattan art dealer Francesca Thayer is forced to take in boarders in order to save her beloved home. In short order, she rents out rooms to Eileen, a young teacher; Marya, a famous chef; and Chris, an attractive single father. They all become close friends, but their lives remain chaotic. Eileen falls in love with [unsuitable] men, Marya has a persistent, married suitor, and Chris gains full custody of his son as his ex-wife becomes increasingly erratic. Along the way, Francesca stops worrying about what might have been, and becomes more involved in the world around her-romances, plumbing problems, and all.”

This was a good book. I like her simple stories about people forced together who have to learn to live together.

Scout, Atticus, and Boo: A Celebration of Fifty Years of To Kill a Mockingbird by Mary McDonagh Murphy

“To Kill a Mockingbird may well be our national novel. It is the first adult novel that many of us remember reading, one book that millions of us have in common. It sells nearly a million copies a year, more than any other twentieth-century American classic. Harper Lee’s first and only novel, published in July 1960, is a beloved classic and touchstone in American literary and social history.

To mark the fiftieth anniversary of To Kill a Mockingbird, Mary McDonagh Murphy reviews its history and examines how the novel has left its mark on a broad range of novelists, historians, journalists, and artists.”

I haven’t read To Kill A Mockingbird since high school but this book made me want to go back and revisit it.

I have some books that I’m really excited about for next week. They are continuations of series that I like so I’m trying to space them out so I don’t get through them too quickly.

I’m listening to this on audio. I signed up for Audible just to get this. I was number 100 in line for the book at the library!

I downloaded this on my iPad but I’m not allowed to read it at the same time I’m listening to Ghost Story. I’m pacing myself!
