Garry Marshall has written, produced, and acted in some of the biggest hits on TV and the movies. This is the story of how he moved from aspiring sports journalist to Hollywood icon. It was an interesting read.

City of Bones and City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare

Clary is sixteen and chafing under the demands of her super-protective mother. One night she goes out with her best friend Simon and ignores her mother’s phone calls. When she gets the messages she realizes that her mother has been attacked and kidnapped. Suddenly life as she knows it falls apart when she finds out that her mother was part of a society of demonhunters and that she had run away from them to shield Clary from the supernatural elements of life. Now Clary has to learn about the life that has been hidden from her in order to try to get her mother back.

These are the first two books of the Mortal Instruments series.
