Where I Am
I’m in Florida right now for a conference. On Friday I went to Animal Kingdom, the Magic Kingdom, and Epcot. Yes, all of them. Pictorial evidence
When I checked into my hotel the lady asked if I was here for business or leisure. I said business. She asked what kind of convention. I said, “Veterinarians.”
She said, “You…. Are an ACTUAL…. Veterinarian?” She was incredulous. I said yes.
She shook my hand. “Thank you for your service.” I’m thinking – odd, does she not know that’s for veterans who are different than veterinarians? Then she said, “I just love animals.” So, now I’m confused. This is why I don’t like to talk to people.
This started a whole discussion on my Facebook page about why no one ever thinks I’m a doctor – even when I’m in full doctor garb. I maintain that I must look too stupid but others argued that I look young. That’s an argument I believed in my 20s but not in my 40s.

When I travel I have to bring ALL the books. I have an iPad. I could load it with books. I don’t. I have 6 books with me. I’ll probably get to:

This is the first book I requested when I decided to read books focusing on South America this year. I wanted Bolivian books because I spent some time there.
That was indeed funny! I’ve once dreamed to be a Vet but I don’t like reptiles so I thought I cant. I love Vets and yeah, thank you for your service. Lol!

I now only carry books on my Ipad. I do travel a lot within the country and have so much of stuff to take (agriculture wise) like fertilizer and vitamins and weedicides that I have to restrict personal stuff. As a result the books are not getting read!

Sounds like the clerk was mistaken at first and then tried to correct herself.
I also take print books along with my kindle when I travel. I just love the feel of a book in my hand. It’s my preferred way to read and always will be.

That’s too funny about the desk clerk. I think I probably would’ve just stared blankly at her. I wonder if she thought you meant veteran and than realized you said veterinarian and tried to correct herself. I don’t love reading on my iPad but I adore my Kindle Paperwhite. It’s not quite as nice as a book but for most books it’s pretty close and it keeps me from having an entire suitcase full of books. Have a great week!

As an animal lover I would also like to thank you for your service but I am amused b/c I donpt think that is what the desk clerk meant. What a hoot.
Travel was my first reason for a Kindle. My shelves are next and then we are just early adopters.
