This book made me laugh from the first chapter. Earth gets attacked by aliens. The story is told by an Army specialist who was home on leave on that day. A year later he is in the army taken off-planet to fight.
I think the husband will like this one because a major theme running through it is no matter where they are it is still the Army with all the frustration that goes along with that day to day life.
