It was a light reading week for me this week. I picked up and put down several books before I settled into anything. I also blame the World Equestrian Games. I’ve been spending my normal reading time obsessively watching reining and dressage online.

The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan- This is the fifth and final Percy Jackson book. It covers the final battle for Mt Olympus which is currently residing on the 600th floor of the Empire State Building. The end of the book sets up his new series of Camp Half-Blood books which are going to cover a new set of demigods. He did a nice job of expanding the characters available for his use in future stories in a way that fit perfectly into the current story.  I also love that the last Olympian refers to Hestia, Goddess of the Hearth, who stays on war-torn Olympus to literally keep the home fires burning. She’s always been my personal favorite Goddess.

I got a copy of this book because a coworker’s nephew decided that he outgrew the series at 13. He gave them to her even though she is 21 then I begged for the last book since I was on a long library waiting list. Guess this means that I haven’t grown up yet!

I started The Passage after Percy Jackson. I’m about halfway through but it is a long one so that’s it for completed books this week.
