A local branch library had an event over the weekend called Black Author Tasting on their website. That title was a bit unfortunate because all it conjured up for me was The Most Dangerous Game but I went to see what they had on offer.

It was a room full of tables featuring books written by Black authors. It turned out to be mostly focused on children’s and YA books which was disappointing. I’d have liked to see more adult authors featured.

I was more inspired by their displays in the main part of the library. Each of the endcaps of the stacks had large posters with illustrations of black authors and their books.

I did find one book that I was interested in. I’ve checked out the ebook.

I’ve read these authors before with mixed success. This is a zombie-foodie YA book. We’ll see how it goes.

Because February is Black History Month in the U.S. I decided to look at some of my TBR books and pick out some black authors to try to read specifically this month.

I also browsed on my Libby app to find Only Lovers in the Building. That looked cute. I decided to stop here with the list for the time being but I’ll prioritize Black authors for the rest of the month if I’m picking up new books that I haven’t already started or checked out.
