It’s Wyrd & Wonder time! May is a celebration of all things fantasy. The theme this year is maritime fantasy, which is a hard one for me.

I’m not a big fan of pirates and I haven’t read a lot about sea creatures. Over the last few months I have read a few books in preparation but the daily prompts for this month are still going to be a challenge! I’ve been enjoying stretching myself and my reading choices though. That’s one of the fun things about blogging events.

The first prompt is to share my TBR. I did a Top Ten Tuesday post with some water magic books to get started. I have read a few of them. Here are some other books I’ve added since then.

The Vengeance is coming out in May. I just heard about it from The Book Stop’s review. It is pirates but somehow also vampires and maybe historical-type romance?

I have this one on hold from the library when they get it.

Spies who are actually sea people in alternate Portugal. I have this one from the library but I haven’t started it yet.

This is the second book in a series that I’m not sure I want to continue. I have it from Kindle Unlimited but I forgot about it until I was writing this post. That’s not a good sign. But I might read it.

I’m not sure how much water magic is in this but it is the Glimmer Lake series and they refer to something in the lake being important. Yes, I’m stretching maritime to include freshwater!

This would be a yes if it was available in ebook. To read it I would have to buy a paper book version of it and that seems wasteful. But it is a book by a Pacific Islander author about climate change. It sounds good. We’ll see how the month goes.

I love elemental magic systems so I have to have at least one water elemental on the list. I just bought this ebook.
