It’s a love freebie this week and I didn’t want to do another romance list. So let’s look at all those very good boys and girls who we love – the fictional pets in stories.

These books are top of mind since I just read the second one. Kasaqua and Copper are very good young dragons who are growing up with their eventual riders.
Mouse, the Foo Dog, is back in this installment of the Dresden Files. He’s guarding Harry’s daughter and reading novels on an iPad while attending school with her. He’s learned to turn the page while holding a stylus in his mouth.
Medea, Mercy Thompson’s cat, likes anyone who will pay attention to her. Cats don’t usually like werewolves and vampires but she doesn’t seem to care at all.
There are robot pets like cats and parrots on the spaceship in Breathing Space. They help solve crimes.

Grumpy ponies! These are the everyday forms of the elemental steeds. At full power they bring the most destructive weather. When they are calm, they deliver mail and beg for treats.
I don’t know who exactly is the pet in this relationship but the cats do seem to care in their own way about the human.
Storm and Raoul are the two dogs living in the Yukon hidden town in this series.
Every witch has an animal familiar in this magical town.
