ARTWORK by Simon Fetscher

Oh, you want me to talk about a sequel that was a long time coming. I can rant about this topic.

I can do that because I have been waiting FOREVER!!!!!

On December 29, 2009 Shades of Grey was published. Yes, I said 2009. You read that right. I love this book. It is so creative. It is unlike anything else I’ve read. I’ll let the blurb tell you about it.

“Hundreds of years in the future, the world is an alarmingly different place. Life is lived according to The Rulebook and social hierarchy is determined by your perception of colour.

Eddie Russett is an above-average Red who dreams of moving up the ladder. Until he is sent to the Outer Fringes where he meets Jane – a lowly Grey with an uncontrollable temper and a desire to see him killed.

For Eddie, it’s love at first sight. But his infatuation will lead him to discover that all is not as it seems in a world where everything that looks black and white is really shades of grey…

If George Orwell had tripped over a paint pot or Douglas Adams favoured colour swatches instead of towels… neither of them would have come up with anything as eccentrically brilliant as Shades of Grey.”

If you haven’t read this book, go read it. But I’ll warn you. It ends pretty much on a cliffhanger. You’ll want to know what happens next immediately….

Remember what I said about 2009? The sequel has been a rumor since then. A book called Red Side Story showed up a few years ago on Goodreads. It was listed as a sequel but the publication date was always the next year.

Looking at the Goodreads page for it now it says April 6, 2023. That’s the most specific it has ever been listed. There is a cover and a blurb. That’s hasn’t been there before. Once again I get my hopes up….. but so far there is no page for it on Amazon to preorder so I’m not holding my breath.
