I’m not really a New Year’s Resolution kind of person. So these aren’t new things that I’m starting right now. They are more a continuation of things I’ve been doing.
Book Goals
I don’t set goals for the number of books I want to read. In fact, I set my Goodreads goal to 1 so I feel very accomplished all year long.
My major book goals are to read more books set around the world. I especially want to read books from authors around the world.
Body Slims
I’m going to be starting another round of my weight loss program this week. It is 10 weeks on and then you get a break. My last round didn’t go well because I was a slacker so I hope to hit my goal weight this time. I’m about 20 lbs from it so it is doable if I stick to the program.
Spanish
I’ve been working on learning Spanish for a few years. I’m not very good at it. I’m getting close to 1000 days on Duolingo so you’d think I’d be better. Duolingo was good for learning basic vocabulary but now I don’t think it is doing much other than keeping me consistent when I need to be learning more complex grammar. It is just hard to say, “Ok, that’s it. I’m done.” I’ve been listening to videos in Spanish on Youtube to get better with understanding spoken Spanish. I’d gladly take any suggestions anyone has.
Quilts
I didn’t do a lot of quilting last year. I’m working on a mystery quilt right now though and I know a person who is going to have a baby this year. That should be at least two quilts I get done. I bought a whole fancy machine just for my quilting frame and I haven’t even quilted a whole quilt with it yet.
Trips
I don’t have any trips planned for this year except for a continuing education trip to Nashville this summer. We do have a big one planned for early 2027 but maybe we’ll be able to sneak one in during the fall.
Hot tub
I still haven’t replaced my poor murdered hot tub. Every time we get the money saved up for it, a more major thing breaks. I have a new refrigerator and dishwasher since the hot tub died. I miss it. I really, really want to get it replaced.

These are great goals! I’m especially intrigued about the mystery quilt ? Good luck!

For a mystery quilt you get set a directions to follow every week. You don’t know what the final design you are making is. You just need to trust the process.
These are great goals! I’m on a weight loss journey myself, so I wish you luck on yours ?. I hope you achieve all your goals.

Good luck! I need to find a diet and exercise plan I can stick to. I’m lazy. 🙂
My husband and I and a few of our neighbors were in our hot tub the other night and it was so nice and relaxing just to chill (well, warm) and chat. You should definitely get yours fixed! We love ours.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

I have to buy a whole new hot tub. An animal got into the wiring, tore out a section, and then ripped out a hose and dripped water on the remaining wiring. It was so sad. I miss it so much.
Good luck with accomplishing your goals this year!

I’d like to work on improving my Spanish too. I agree about not reading a specific number of books, and I do try and read diversely. Good luck with your 2026 goals!
I had a long conversation with a coffee shop owner in Galveston last week. She spoke perfect English. She told me she never learned English until she moved to the US a year ago. She learned everything from watching tv in English. I’ve had others tell me that you can learn a lot from listening to tv in other languages.
I’m also using Duolingo for Spanish. It’s good for new vocabulary words but the grammar is a lot harder.
I hope you get that hot tub!
Thanks for sharing your #TTT and good luck with all of your goals
I hope you get to accomplish all your goals!
I’ve given up to setting a total number of books, I was just setting myself up for failure ? hope you have a good year regardless
