This is a month where I’ve been reading a lot of big nonfiction books in little chunks at a time so I haven’t finished any of them. Â
Here’s what I did finish.

Jefferson’s Daughters was an audiobook that got auto-returned to the library on me. Caesar’s Footprints and Avignon are background for an upcoming trip. Fear is just … about Trump…. so it can only be handled in small doses. One Man and a Mule is so me but I put it down and forgot about it until the husband picked it up and now I have to share. Â
Reading All Around the World challenge from Howling Frog Books
- Read a nonfiction book about the country – or
- Read fiction written by a native of the country or someone living for a long time in the country.
Costa del Churros is written by a British person who has lived in Spain for a long time so it counts but I’m reserving the right to replace it with something by a Spanish person. We Fed An Island is written by a Spanish person but doesn’t take place in Spain. Â
Someone who reads nonfiction too. I think I would like to read The Black and the Blue.
Some of the book looks interesting to read since I personally like historical fiction/romance.
I like a few of your choices – have wanted to read the new Bob Woodward book but don’t know if I will get around to it. Hope you have a great October!
I want to read We Fed an Island. This sounds amazing. I have also started reading more nonfiction books this year as they are told in an entertaining way too that keeps my interest.
I’ve found myself reading a lot more non-fiction in smaller chunks as well, since I’m reading writing craft books (which often include exercises that I need to do along with them). Those take me a long time to get through!
That’s a varied selection of books! I didn’t know about the Reading All Around the World challenge, but it’s a great idea. Also, I think the cover actors for romance novels must have a blast with the costuming and the positions, they’re always fun.
Ugh, Jose Andrés. I remember catching a few of his cooking shows on tv, he was super-messy.

I like that you read so many nonfiction books. I always procrastinate reading them, and then I love them and wonder why I procrastinated. I’m #101 on the waitlist for Fear, so it’ll be a while before I get that one. The Puerto Rico book looks interesting. I’ll have to look that one up. Have a great October!
I love reading nonfiction. Every fall I find myself reading a larger percentage of nonfiction than fiction. That must be the season for it for me.
