Mister and Mouse – The Dresden Files

Storm Front Jim Butcher

Over the course of the series Harry Dresden has two animal companions. Mister is a massive street cat and Mouse is a supernatural Temple Dog who protects Harry and Harry’s daughter.

The Cats of the Spires

Sticking with Jim Butcher, we have the cats of the Cinder Spires. In this aerial world, the cats can communicate directly with people and have formed their own parallel society with the humans.

Greebo

Greebo is Nanny Ogg’s precious little baby cat in Terry Pratchett’s books. Everyone else sees Greebo as a foul tempered killing machine.

I’ve always had a soft spot for Greebo because when I was first reading this books I also had a grey killing machine who was my most precious little baby cat.

The Elemental Steeds – The Others

When we first meet a herd of grumpy ponies in Written in Red, we don’t know that these mail carriers have a real job. In their more scary form they are the Elemental Steeds who carry Air, Fire, and their sisters to create weather. That’s why they have names like Twister, Hurricane, Thunder, and Lightning.

Beast – Innkeeper Chronicles

Beast appears to be a Shih Tzu living in a Bed and Breakfast in Texas. But don’t make her mad. She actually has way more teeth than expected and can eat aliens.

Mr. Mittens – Splintered Magic

Mr. Mittens has been the Fae guardian of a magical house for generations. It isn’t his fault that the newest caretaker doesn’t realize that he isn’t just a cat who came with the house.

The Cats of Nakagy? Kokoro Clinic for the Soul

At this clinic the answer to whatever ails a person is always the same – take home a cat for a week or two. They will change your life in ways you don’t expect.
