Book to Movie Adaptions
What books do you want to be made into a movie or television show? What are some of your favorites? We’ll explore more about this topic, especially what works and what doesn’t.  Are there any upcoming shows or movies that you’re excited for? What are your recommendations?

book to movie adaptations

Seriously, are these ever done well?

Even Harry Potter, which I would say is one of the best adapted series has major holes.  How did they go through a series and never manage to mention the fact that James Potter, Remus Lupin, Sirius Black, and Peter Pettigrew made the Marauder’s Map?

When I’m Queen I am only allowing books to be made into series.

At least there is a chance then.  Think of how much more is in the Colin Firth Pride and Prejudice miniseries than in the movies.  Could Outlander have been done better as a movie than as a series?

Here are the adaptations I want to see

American Gods (American Gods, #1)American Gods by Neil Gaiman

This one has been in production forever first at HBO and now at Starz.  Hopefully Starz will be less likely to add naked women as set dressing than HBO would have been.

This came out this week and is encouraging news.

Madame Tussaud: A Novel of the French RevolutionMadame Tussaud: A Novel of the French Revolution by Michelle Moran

This one would appeal to people who like The Tudors and Wolf Hall.  Madame Tussaud was a business woman in pre-revolutionary France.  She was a tutor to royalty and a family member to revolutionaries.  She had to play both sides to escape with her life during the revolution.

Moon Called (Mercy Thompson, #1)Moon Called by Patricia Briggs

The Mercy Thompson series would fill the spot left by True Blood.  It features fae and werewolves and shifters in eastern Washington.  There are 8 books and a companion series so there is lots of material

Written in Red (The Others, #1)Written in Red by Anne Bishop

If I can’t get the Mercy Thompson series for the True Blood spot, then I want this series.  There are only three books so far but I want to see grumpy ponies that turn into weather-controlling magical horses.
