Pretties
by Scott Westerfield-Â This book suffered from second book syndrome. The first book in the trilogy, Uglies, was good. This one is mostly setting things up for resolution in the third book.
The Ranch
by Danielle Steele- This was another thrift store find. I got it because it took place in Wyoming and I need that for the Where are you reading challenge. Three former college roomates meet up at a dude ranch when their lives are imploding. Of course they are all rich and glamorous and important. Of course, their love lives improve. The end really annoyed me though. I didn’t like the choices one character made.
Charlie All Night
by Jennifer Crusie-Â Allie was the producer and girlfriend of the drive time DJ at a local radio station. Then he dumped her and she ended up having to work with the new temporary 10 PM-2 AM DJ, Charlie. Allie knows that she can make him a star but Charlie doesn’t want to be. All he is interested in is making it through his temp job and Allie.
This was a cute light romance.
From the Mixed-up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler by E.L. Konigsberg – I loved this book as a kid. I remember it being magical even if I couldn’t remember exactly what it was about. I was really excited to reread this.
I was so disappointed. I kept waiting for it to get wonderful and magical. I just… didn’t. I don’t know what I loved about it as a kid. It was pretty boring as an adult.
Has anyone else reread this as a grown-up?
Where are you reading update-Â Fantasy Island, Wyoming (new),
Ohio, New York

I LOVE Jennifer Crusie’s books. I think the one you read is one of the few that I actually haven’t gotten around to reading yet. My favorites of hers are Agnes and the Hitman and Getting Rid Of Bradley.
Sorry, I haven’t read it. Has anyone read A Wrinkle in Time? It was required reading in grade 7 and I enjoyed it then. I’m considering a re-read but wonder if I’d enjoy it as much.
My Bookshelf
The Uglies series is on my to read list, but I can’t seem to get to it.
Glad to see you enjoyed Charlie All Night. I read it not that long ago as part of the Jennifer Crusie bundle on Amazon.com. I remember it being one of my favorite out of those books.
Enjoy your books and thanks for sharing!!
My Reading Plan for the Week
I hate it when series books are mostly a setup for another book. I don’t mind them reusing characters but give me a whole story arc in a book please!

Seems you had a good reading week 🙂 I hope next week will be equally good 🙂
Disappointing to hear that about Pretties. I loved the first one.
I agree with your assessment of Pretties. One of these days I’ll read Specials.
Summer school begins for me so my reading for fun will take second place to reading for homework. So my reading for fun will have to take second place to reading for school. Come see what I finished in my last week of vacation.
I’ve read Uglies but am apprehensive in reading Pretties, I think it’s because I didn’t like Uglies that much but I want to know what happens.

I am not familiar with any of these. Happy reading.
I read the Ranch many many years ago and remember liking it…. I can not recall the ending other than the fact that one of the characters was sick….
Have a super week 🙂
I recall fondly From the Mixed-Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler, but have not read it as an adult. Have a wonderful week. My Monday: http://www.rundpinne.com/2011/06/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-42.html
Hope you enjoy the third book in the Uglies series. Have a great reading week.
I haven’t read the Scott Westerfield books, but I am curious. I think I read The Ranch a long time ago.
Enjoy your reading!
Here’s MY MONDAY MEMES POST
I haven’t seen that cover of Pretties before. I read Uglies but realised dystopian isn’t for me.
