Nonfiction November – My Year in Nonfiction

Week 1: (Nov. 2 to Nov. 6) – Your Year in Nonfiction (Leann of Shelf Aware): Take a look back at your year of nonfiction and reflect on the following questions – What was your favorite nonfiction read of the year? Do you have a particular topic you’ve been attracted to more this year? What nonfiction book have you recommended the most? What are you hoping to get out of participating in Nonfiction November?

I LOVE NONFICTION NOVEMBER! November just seems like a good time to snuggle up with some serious books and learn some stuff. But first, let’s figure out what nonfiction books I’ve already read this year.

Are you kidding me? I knew I was on a major romance/comfort reading kick this year but I had no idea that I had read so few nonfiction books. For contrast, last year for this post I had read 22 nonfiction books and thought I was slacking.

What have I loved this year?

Just to make it look a little better let’s add in the books from November and December last year that never get added to this list.

That’s a bit better. Of those ones my favorite was Running with Sherman.

Obviously I get a lot more nonfiction reading done in Nonfiction November and it carries on through December.

So, my goal for this month needs to be to get to those nonfiction books I’ve been neglecting. I’ve got several requested from the library and I have a stack of books here. I can’t wait to see what everyone else is recommending.

I’m coming across new people recommending books I added to my list last Nonfiction November and still haven’t read alarmingly frequently. There are just so many good books, it’s hard to get to them all!

That’s great you added last November/December nonfiction reads too because we do come out of Nonfiction November with a ton of good recommendations and read some of those right away. Love your lists and I’m penciling a ton of those.

You read a lot of interesting topics. I am not familiar with any of them but I Have Something To Tell You sounds very good, and also Let Them Eat Pancakes. It is good that you included November and December books. Although I end up reading a lot of Christmas fiction around that time.

So cute! I want to read about Sherman. I forgot to add in what I read last year in December. I’ll have to add that in somewhere this month. A lot of your books are on my TBR pile. I hope you have a great reading month!

I have Motherhood So White out from the library right now so that I can finally read it this month! I really want to get my hands on that mugcakes cookbook!
Tightrope and Dying of Whiteness sound like they are right up my alley so definitely adding those to my list! Wasn’t Saeed Jones’ memoir so good?!

I must read Running with Sherman!!! Also, for some reason no matter how many times I click on “Close and accept” the privacy/cookies pop up on your website, it refuses to close! I’m on a Chromebook so that might have something to do with it. It doesn’t prevent me from reading your posts, so I can live with it. LOL
