We rent out half our land to our neighbor to plant corn. Today they were finally able to get into the fields to harvest it. The horses were in the front pasture and watched the combine going past with mild interest. All of a sudden they started running and bucking and carrying on like two maniacs. It took a while for me to realize that they had never been in that space without the corn. We put that fence up this summer when the corn was already at full height. So there was a wall of corn on their left and a driveway and then another field of corn on the right. All of a sudden their view of the world expanded exponentially! They ran around for about 10 minutes and then the thrill was gone and they went back to eating.
