Melissa McShane
I first encountered Melissa McShane through her Extraordinaries series.
Imagine the Napoleonic Wars if both sides had sorcerers. This series was so good.
But she writes all kinds of different types of series. She has a few fantasy series set in a country called Tremontane.
The story starts with a thief named Willow North who inadvertently is drawn into protecting a young King from his relatives who are trying to kill him. Later series take place centuries later in the country that develops out of her actions.
If you want something completely different, there is an urban fantasy series about a woman who takes a job in a bookshop only to find out that it is a living oracle.
I haven’t read anything by this author but I wonder if one of the other reviewers on my team has since the covers look familiar.
