I must have an aura around me today that says, “Give me a hard time in otherwise simple interactions.”. I had a 6 month recheck for my breast lump. Since it turned out to be an abscess that drained, there is no more mass. I called to cancel the appointment.
The receptionist told me, “I can’t tell you that that is ok ma’am.”. I wasn’t aware that I was asking for approval but I said it was an abscess that was now resolved. She was unmoved.
After I hung up I realized what I should have said. I should have said that I had had the breast removed and was under the care of 16 other specialists and the chemo made it so I can’t walk anyway. How would that have made her feel? Think before you get snotty on the phone.
