Selkies are shapeshifters who turn into seals. They aren’t the most common creatures in fantasy books but here are a few books I’ve seen them in.
Archers Beach

This is a beach town that features a boardwalk with a carousel that is actually a prison for supernatural creatures. One of the characters in the town is a selkie. This is one of the first books I read with a selkie in it.
The Girl from the Sea
This graphic novel tells the story of a selkie girl who becomes human once every seven years.
Hell and High Water
Someone is killing selkies in London. Three estranged friends and former spies – a selkie and two fae – come back together to solve the crime.
Seduced by a Selkie
It’s probably a bad sign that I couldn’t remember what this book was about when I went to write this post (other than the obvious from the title.) I just read it a month ago. It should have been good but it was obviously forgettable but it goes on the list.
Mystic Bayou

This series is was Seduced by a Selkie should have been. It is paranormal romance/mystery. The books with the selkies as the leads are books 4 and 7. Yes, you need to read them all to understand the overall story but it is a good series. There is a small town in Louisiana with a magical rift that has been attracting shifters for centuries. The rift is getting bigger. People are coming to town to figure out why. Romance ensues.
Selkies are kind of awesome and I haven’t read enough books with them.
