When I was about 10 years old my grandmother took me to see Return of the Jedi in the theaters. I had no idea what was going on because I hadn’t seen the first two movies but I was in absolute awe of the hover bikes.

I was a kid living in a relatively rural area. I was a few years before getting my horse. I had a kid’s bike. But other than that, I had no means of transportation other than my mom driving me somewhere. If I had a hover bike, I’d be able to fly through the woods and get where ever I needed to be. I’m still in love with them.

In the great debate between Star Wars and Star Trek I am firmly on the side of Star Trek. I mean, how is this even a question? One is a fascist dictatorship where you are likely to get killed because your advanced but likely broken down and rusty tech can’t save you. The other is a shiny close-to utopia with all kinds of tech I want.

Tricorders – I think this is every doctor’s dream. Swipe a handheld device head to paw over your patient and find out exactly what is wrong with them. Yes, please!

Replicators – Got a craving? A replicator can whip that right up for you. I like to cook but sometimes it would be nice to just have dinner appear from out of the ether.

Holodecks – Lots of stuff seems to go wrong on holodecks but I’d still like to make up my own world. I’d especially like it if stuck on a starship. I don’t do well if I think I’m trapped in a fairly small area. I don’t even like being on islands for more than a few days. I don’t know why. It isn’t like I’m not perfectly fine in my house and in my surrounding areas that are probably smaller than the size of most islands that make me feel cramped. I could drive to Alaska if I wanted to though. Somehow that makes a difference in my brain.

I’m also a Doctor Who fan so of course I want my own TARDIS. Who wouldn’t want to be able to travel anywhere in time and space? I would like one that steers a little better than The Doctor’s though so I could get where I actually want to go. If I’m being picky, I’d like one with a working chameleon circuit so it can blend into its surroundings instead of being stuck looking like a police box. With my luck though I’d probably forget what it looked like and forget where I parked it. Maybe it should look like a RV so I just seem like I’d parked it somewhere and I can just get in and out and then disappear.
