The Rapid Fire Book Tag

I saw this on Read Diverse Books and it looked like fun.

eBooks or physical books?

kindle-381242_640(1)

I read both but if I had to choose one I’d pick ebooks.

  • You can carry around lots and lots of books which is great for mood readers like me.
  • You can read at night without turning on a light.
  • I don’t like the clutter of having lots of books around.  I know, sacrilege.

Paperback or hardback?

Paperback

Online or in-store book shopping?

I’m a library person. I understand organization by the Dewey Decimal System. When I go into a bookstore it looks like this to me.

books-1655783_640

Complete chaos. How does anyone find anything?

I have sold my soul to Amazon. Online shopping forever.

Trilogies or series?

Series. I hate books that should have standalones that get stretched to trilogies. The second book is usually unnecessary fillers. But if I like the world, I want a series to go on forever as long as it stays interesting.

Heroes or villains?

I always like the heroes better.

A book you want everyone to read?

InkInk by Sabrina Vourvoulias
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a story about immigration rhetoric taken to its logical conclusion. Scary.

Recommend an underrated book.

I feel like I read mostly underrated books so it is hard to pick just one.

The last book you finished?

Hidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space RaceHidden Figures: The American Dream and the Untold Story of the Black Women Mathematicians Who Helped Win the Space Race by Margot Lee Shetterly

Used books, yes or no?

Absolutely. If you buy used books you can buy more books since they are less expensive.

Top three favorite genre?

Fantasy, historical fiction, nonfiction

Weirdest thing you used as a bookmark?

Everything I own has probably been used as a bookmark at one time or another. Pets tend to be fairly uncooperative.

Borrow or buy?

Borrow!

Characters or plot?

Plot. I don’t usually like books that don’t have much going on in them.

Long or short book?

Either but I tend towards long.

Long or short chapters?

Either is fine.

Name the first three books you think of.

I totally blanked and then came up with The Canterbury Tales for some reason.
Frankenstein and Pride and Prejudice were next. I don’t know why.

Books that make you laugh or cry?

Laugh

Our world of fictional worlds?

narrative-794978_640

Fictional is way more fun.

Do you ever judge a book by its cover?

A cover may influence me to pick up the book if I’m browsing. I’m not one of those people who lose their minds if all the covers in a series don’t match, though. I don’t get that. I don’t care if the cover is a movie tie-in. I won’t read a book just because the cover is cool.

Audiobooks: yes or no?

Yes, yes, yes! What else do you listen to in the car?

Book to movie or book to TV adaptation?

Book to TV. You lose so much in movie adaptations.

A movie or TV adaptation you preferred to the book?

I’m loving the Queen Sugar tv show even though it is nothing like the book.

Series or standalone?

Either
