This week’s weigh in is:

That’s down 1 pound from last week and down 3 pounds total. This is going to be a hard week coming up. This weekend I’m going to watch a horse show with my mother and she brings all kinds of junk food. It is easy to just sit there and munch mindlessly. Also the food that is available at the food stands isn’t healthy. I may just need to pack up my own supplies of healthy stuff.

I’ve noticed as I get more mindful about what I am eating that I get full easier. If I eat too much I’m feeling uncomfortable. Instead of automatically making two sandwiches for example I make one and tell myself that I can have another if I’m still hungry. I don’t usually make the other one. I also will have ice cream if I want it but I put it in a cup instead of a bowl so I eat less. The husband doesn’t understand how that works. “You do realize that you are not eating the same amount, right? If you know that how are you satisfied?” I don’t know why it works but it does for me.

I know that 1 -2 pounds a week is the recommended amount to lose but it seems so slow. I just have to remember that I could go back to what I was doing before and in 10 weeks I’d weigh the same as I did when I started or I can lose at this rate and be down 10 lbs in 10 weeks.

  1. Congrats on the weight loss. What you are doing makes sense to me. I’ve heard it’s sometimes hard to realize you are full and stop eating. When you are focusing on taste, you don’t realize you are full. But when you take smaller portions, it reminds you to evaluate if you are full more often. My husband did the “stop eating when you are full” diet and it helped a lot.
