WIP Wednesday

I worked on some swap projects this week.  The first one wanted quilt blocks based on a grid.  I made a convergence block.   Here’s that whole group together. For the next one I could make whatever block I wanted as long as it was in the same color scheme as the rest of the [...]

WIP Wednesday

I’ve been a bit of a slacker this week but I did manage to finish two and half hexagons. Powder is unimpressed as noted by the huge yawn. (Actually she looks quite vicious in this picture but trust me, it was a yawn.) I did finish one swap block. I do have quilts for show [...]

WIP Wednesday

This week I decided to work on some swap blocks. The first one up was a neutral block with a small amount of color. The next one was anything in blue. Here’s the whole group together. I’ve worked on my machine quilting like I promised. I’m using Left Turn Right Turn from the Free Motion [...]

WIP Wednesday

I had planned on working more on my anchor quilt. I have rows 1-5 done and am working on row 6, which is the most complicated. But I got distracted by an email. A few months ago I sent an email to some local quilt stores about Quilts of Valor’s 10th Anniversary Block Drive. Monday [...]

I’m working on an anchor. The original idea comes from a Tula Pink pattern. Source: tulapink.com viaHeather on Pinterest   This isn’t a fabric line that I’d normally really like but for some reason this design drew me in. Wouldn’t it be a great Quilt of Valor for a Navy veteran? The pattern as written [...]

WIP Wednesday

I’ve been working on swap blocks. I added this Whoopsie Daisy block to Judy’s group. Linda asked for a Buckeye Block made in country colors. I had to dig to the bottom of the bins for those fabrics. The yellow flowers are actually a 1950s print. The next one was completely different and asked for [...]

WIP Wednesday

Since I posted here last I finished my block a day QOV sampler. It annoyed me by insisting on having sashing with cornerstones so that took longer to put together than expected but I like the way it turned out. In the last few weeks I’ve gotten a bunch of packages in from the 2 [...]

February Sampler Day 14

I knew I wanted to do something Valentine’s Day-ish but I wasn’t sure what. This quilt will probably end up with a man so I didn’t want it to be too girly. Then I saw a picture of a patriotic heart block. That was perfect. There weren’t any directions so I sketched it out and [...]

WIP Wednesday

My sewing this week has been all Quilts of Valor sampler. I have put a few rows together of my Spaghetti Junction quilt and I ordered a border fabric. The fabric ended up being way too pink instead of red. It turns out that I have the perfect border color in my stash but the [...]

February Sampler Day 11

This was a quick block. I think this would make a great quilt if you replaced the squares in the corners with half square triangles. That would give a good secondary pattern when the blocks were put together.

Wonky star and four patches – inspired by a star block in a quilt hanging on my wall.

February Sampler Day 7

I made this cross from left over pieces of the rail fence from yesterday’s block and then added some triangles for interest. I guess sometimes it pays to be lazy and not clean up your workspace immediately.

I’ve been working on a block a day sampler quilt for Quilts of Valor. This is what I’ve posted so far plus the rail fence block for today. I’ve been putting together my Spaghetti Junction quilt as a leader/ender while doing the sampler. But I haven’t been doing it fast enough. The top section is [...]

February Sampler Day 5

Day 5 is a little more complex. It is from a free paper pieced block pattern called Tequila Sunrise. It is actually four of the blocks put together to get close to 12 inches. It needs a border put on to be up to size but I like it.
