I still haven’t had a chance to get the last charity quilt I made out to the intended group. I also have come to the conclusion that I have to give away my alpaca wool sweater from Bolivia. I love my sweater but I never wear it because it is very warm and it is very itchy. It actually drew blood from me the last time I wore it. But it is my souvenier from Bolivia and love it.

Today I found the perfect charity for me. F.I.R.E. is an organization that ships warm blankets and clothes to Mongolia. I’ve wanted to go to Mongolia ever since I read a book in 5th grade about a guy who went to Mongolia in the early 1900s. (All I remember about the book is that he had to eat a sheep’s eyeball so you wouldn’t think that would be a selling point for me. ) I almost got to go when I was in vet school but ended up going to Bolivia instead.

The web page is a bit out of date but they are collecting for a trip this summer. I think I’ll send the absurdly warm sweater and some quilts. They also ask for horse tack! A lot of Mongolia still relies on horses (another reason I want to go) or maybe the Huns are rearming to take over Europe again. Either way any organization combining quilts and tack for Mongolia is obviously the perfect charity for me.
