Bead for Life

Bead for Life is a group of Ugandan women who make beads and jewelry out of magazine paper. Recycling, women’s sustainable development, and jewelry all in one shot. Check it out.

Here are my latest earrings.

Sun earrings

They are made out of buttons. I just clipped off the shanks and glued them onto earring backs.

Hi – I just spent a month with my daughter (age19) traveling in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. She worked in Phonm Penh (her second trip) for 4 months as a volunteer with HIV/AIDS positive orphans. In addition to caring for children, she was involved in and exposed to several organizations who engage women, at a high standard, to produce beautiful (silk) creations in a similar spirit as to what you are doing at BeadLife.

I am interested in bring these products to Australia. We are American and Australian citizens and I would be very interested in contacting you regarding any possible outlets for these beautiful pieces from BeadLife, and I also would like to buy some for Christmas presents!

I have contacts at a few art galleries and retail organizations.

Please let me know what you think.

    Sincerely, Laura Callahan
