Bath
My mom and I went to England and made a point to hit up places that featured in Regency romance books.
This is the Royal Crescent. We sat here and took in the view which ended up including an irate French man yelling at his dog that, “You need to sh!t” over and over in a strong French accent. I think of that whenever I need Nemo to hurry up.
London
On the same trip we did the touristy things in London that are in all the books.
Also, a high point on the Regency tour was walking down Rotten Row in Hyde Park. Any self respecting lady knows that that was the place to be seen on your horse. I didn’t have my horse with me but I was there.
Library of Congress
This is worth a go just to look at the art and architecture. If you get tickets to go on Thursday nights you can go into the reading room for a quick walk around.
Kafka Statue – Prague
We watched the Kafka statue rotate around in Prague. It was really cold when we were there but luckily you can actually sit in Starbucks and watch it.
Politics and Prose – Washington D.C.
I’m not a big bookstore person but I did visit Politics and Prose, a famous bookstore in D.C.
Parnassus Books – Nashville
Just last week I went to Parnassus Books in Nashville. It is owned by author Ann Pratchett. I haven’t read any of her books because I’m not classy enough. I was with one bookstore lover and one non-reader. They do have staff dogs there so that satisfied the non-reader. She did point out to the reader after a while that these same books were available in Ohio so we could go now that we had looked around.
I would have totally bought the Nemo Reads shirt if:
- they had adult sizes
- it was a Pomeranian
- everyone who knows Nemo asserted that he didn’t read because he’s a TV guy. Excuse me, but we have subtitles on our TV. Maybe he reads those.
