Wyrd & Wonder is celebrating the moon this year. Where else would you start your fantasy journey than celebrating the best fantasy creature – werewolves? Here’s some I’ve been reading lately.
Patricia Briggs’ Mercy Thompson and Alpha & Omega series
These are the kinds of werewolves I like. They are smart and powerful and not whiny about their lot in life. I like wolves who are the good guys – not the monsters in the story. Although Mercy isn’t a werewolf, she is raised by a werewolf pack and marries into one.
I love the overall mythology of these combined series.
Seana Kelly’s Sam Quinn series
The series starts with a very traumatized female werewolf having retreated from the world in her bookstore/bar. Events conspire to bring her to the attention of some other werewolves but she has made some powerful supernatural friends since the last time the other werewolves messed with her.
Anne Bishop’s The Others

I love to relisten to the audiobooks of this series where shifters are the dominant powers on an alternate Earth. I love the grumpy ponies!
K.M. Shea’s Magiford
This series is made up of interconnected trilogies. In the middle is a trilogy about a town led by a werewolf pack and the human who lives with them.
