Pretty in Pink!

Prize has trashed her previous sneakers. I liked them because they were well padded but they weren’t very sturdy. I bought her a new brand that seemed sturdier but they aren’t as padded. They had one other fine attribute though: Pink! She’s styling now. The male barn owner said that he thought I was kidding [...]

Saturday with Bernie

Meet Bernie. We dog sat on Saturday. He was visiting some neighbors of ours from his house in Wisconsin. All his humans went on a day trip so he came to us. He’s a Springer Spaniel/Beagle mix too. I think dogs are like cars. You never notice certain types until you get one and then [...]

Baby Pictures

Here are the rescued orphan babies at the farm hanging out with one of their “uncles.” All the big horses have taken an interest in making sure the babies have manners and are protected at all times even though they are not in the same pasture with them. Prize and her buddies are to the [...]

Walk-a-thon

This morning Freckles, the SO, Z, and I did a 5K charity walk to help a local pet rescue organization. We went with two other dogs from work and five people. It was supposed to be a 5K. There was no sign for a turnaround point so we think we walked about 4.5 miles. It [...]

Appetite for Destruction

Work on the hallway started this morning. I was downstairs for sewing day and not paying attention to what was going on upstairs. Riley kept coming over and giving me looks though. He naps upstairs at this time of day and obviously he was being disturbed. (Poor Riley has a traumatic 24 hours. Riley, scourge [...]

Catching Up

I joined the Secret Post Club, which is like a Secret Santa exchange every month, and I just got my first package. (I was going to post a link but they’ve closed it to new members for right now so I must have been lucky to get in.) Mine came from Betty in the UK. [...]

W-W-Jamie-Do

Since I’ve been home I’ve been catching up on shows I missed. One of them was Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution. After watching Z eat french fries all week I was ready to fight to get her to eat some decent food. I just had to convince her father not to give in. He’s great at [...]

Pictures

Washington DC was alive with flowers. We even managed to find some blooming trees although most of them were done. My favorite exhibit was the Brian Jungen area at the National Museum of the American Indian. Look closely at this mask and you can see that it is made out of Air Jordan sneakers.

Snow

I’d been hearing all week that we were going to get snow. I don’t pay much attention. I’m from a snowier area than this so locals’ idea of snow and mine are different. I did go to the grocery store yesterday in spite of snow warnings. It was time to buy stuff. I wasn’t there [...]

Couch Abuse

Is it really necessary to sit on the back of the couch instead of how it was designed to be used? My cats do this too. I think it is because they can see better.

Carolina Christmas

Done! (The top, that is.) Yeah! It is huge. There are two people standing on chairs holding this over their heads.

Picture Day

I started to put the sashing in my Carolina Christmas quilt. I’m using a 1.5 inch green sashing. I think it sets off the blocks just enough to make the overall look less chaotic to my eyes. One of my friends finished this sampler top for her great-niece. I took Freckles out for a walk [...]

Busted

Prize has been dieting. I know you can’t tell from this picture with a full winter coat but there is less of her. This has been accomplished by very strict dietary guidelines imposed on her and her two buddies in the “Plump Pony Paddock.” I decided that I would go over there today and slip [...]

Good planning

Grounded for having to be yelled at too many times for kitty chasing this morning. I’m working on cooking real live meals again. I get very easily distracted and then I cook things that only have to have water added and microwaved. I’ve been reading the running blogs and those people are seriously into their [...]

Snow

It snowed. In case I didn’t know that I had a kid singing, “Yeah! It snowed!” over and over at the top of her lungs this morning. She is still alive. I’m counting that as my good deed for today. Freckles seems to love snow. She runs huge circles at the dog park as fast [...]

Virtual Christmas Quilt Show

There is a Virtual Christmas Quilt Show going on here. I think I’ve only ever made one Christmasy thing since I’m not a fan of the season. I made this as part of a block exchange. It was made for my mom because she likes Christmas decorations. This was one of the very early quilts [...]

Running with the Dog

When I run with Freckles I use a Gentle Leader headcollar to control her. She’s a major puller when her leash is hooked to her collar. With the Gentle Leader the leash is hooked under her chin so if she tugs against the leash it ends up pulling her nose back to me. It is [...]

Post-workout slump

This is Freckles post-workout. Maybe I could be fast enough to keep up with her if I stored my energy like her for the rest of the day.
